The selection process continues: Tekken 7.

Alasdair Donaldson
At last Mind Sports South Africa (MSSA) has agreed upon the Team Captain for the esports title of Tekken 7.
The Team Captain is the person who is most likely to represent South Africa's hopes and dreams at IeSF's 9th World Championships - Busan in November 2017. He too will lead the Tekken 7 team in international online test matches as the team readies itself for the gruelling world championships that lies ahead.

But who  is Alasdair?

Alasdair began playing fighting games in 1992 with the release of the first Mortal Kombat game.

From then on, he was hooked. He lost countless hours playing Tekken Tag and Tekken 3 with friends. It wasn’t until the release of Tekken 5 DR in 2005 that he finally joined a fighting game community in Cape Town and learned the difference between being a casual player and a pro.

for Alasdair it was a revelation to find that people who had documented the exact frames of moves and developed punishment guides. For the first time, Alasdair could analyse his game and note areas of improvement.

Since then, Alasdair has competed in a number of local tournaments and one international tournament. His greatest achievements are winning the Tekken at a Cape Town tournament and winning the Street Fighter and Tekken at both the Gauteng and Mpumalanga championships. In Germany Alasdaair had the opportunity to play a friendly game against JDCR, arguable the best Tekken player in the world. It was an experience that he would never forget.

As Alasdair says, "gaming it not just a hobby, but a serious sport. It requires dedication to both the games and fighting game community. It is an honour and a privilege to have been selected for the National Team and I look forward to representing my country in the games that I love".
