March is a new month with endless possibilities. But it is always nice to take a look back at the month that passed and note favourites and standout items. In February 2020, there were lots and lots of workout and fitness related favourites. Why? In the middle of January, my back was having some issues. (This has been a problem on and off over the years but it is no less frustrating when it happens.) That meant my workout routine was put on pause. It was difficult to want to workout and not be able to. But a heating pad, rest, and lots of stretching was exactly what the doctor ordered. Thankfully, I was able to get back in the swing of things come February. Ready to check out these workout favourites? Here goes....
Under Armour Project Rock Respect Tank. Cute workout clothes are always a motivator for me. Not only do they make me feel better but they even make me work a little harder. Especially when there is some sort of motivational saying to enjoy. This particular tank top (pictured above) was given to me by my husband. He absolutely loves Under Armour clothes and Dwayne Johnson. And quite frankly....all of the Under Armour pieces in my wardrobe are super comfortable. It was a lovely surprise! The tank top comes in a gorgeous blue colour, has the signature Project Rock logo, and is ultra comfortable. It was definitely a motivator for me this past month. XMIAO Resistance Band Set. One of my friends is a fitness fiend. Before COVID hit, we were going to the gym together regularly and she was training me. It was a wonderful (but physically exhausting) time. Once the world is safe again....I look forward to her kicking my butt in the gym once again. Until then, she was kind enough to give me a set of resistance bands for Christmas. The set includes different resistance levels to lower or increase intensity as needed. As much as I hate using resistance bands (they are great for strength training but I am more of a cardio kind of girl), they really do make a difference. It has been really useful to have these resistance bands to benefit my at-home workouts.
Richard Simmons Talking Keychain. Okay. I love Richard Simmons. This is no secret. During the pandemic, his workouts have continued to inspire me and keep me motivated. It's hard to believe I went all of those years without knowing about his infectious energy and positivity. (Read more about that here.) During the month of February, one of my favourite workout items was actually a talking keychain. It has a little picture of Richard Simmons in the center and six different phrases. Some of the phrases are fun or silly but some of them are really inspirational. Lately, that little keychain has stayed nearby at all times. Whenever I am feeling down or need a little inspiration....I just push the button. My favourite saying is, "You are worth more than all the rainbows in the sky and the pearls in the ocean." Motivation matters!
Jillian Michaels Beginner Shred Workout DVD. Working out after a back injury....stinks. You need to go suuuuuper slow. It feels like starting over, which in itself is frustrating. Unfortunately, doing too much too fast will only make the issue worse. So, my February was spent with the Jillian Michaels Beginner Shred workout DVD. It features three different workout levels. Each is done for 10 days before you level up to the next one. This was a wonderful way to rebuild my strength and my confidence. Though my workouts will continue to become more challenging as the weeks and months pass, the Beginner Shred allowed me to start fresh. This would absolutely be suitable for someone just getting started - or someone starting over.
These are some of my workout favourites for February 2020. I am sure many of them will continue to be favourites in March!
