Every now and then, new nail polish is added to my collection. I wouldn't say that I purchase nail polish often (because I have a good amount already) but sometimes there is a certain colour or finish that catches my eye. That is exactly what happened with a couple of Nicole by OPI polishes. There were a handful of different nail polishes at Winners several months back and two of them were added to my cart. It is always hard for me to resist sparkle and shimmer, so it was really a no brainer. Find out how these polishes performed and whether they were worth incorporating into my nail polish collection.
This was my first time trying anything from the Nicole by OPI line. Apparently, the Nicole line was the OPI line from Selena Gomez. (Which explains why her name is printed all over the bottle.) Thanks to this little Winners find, I was able to test out two different Nicole by OPI polishes: Stars at Night and Inner Sparkle. Both are what I would consider add ons rather than full polishes. Stars at Night has tinsel-like silver strands and Inner Sparkle has an assortment of reflective glitters. The tinsel kind of polish reminded me of a nail polish that I had when I was young. I felt like a million dollars whenever my nails were done. This time around, I think it would be something fun for the holiday season. It will definitely be in heavy rotation once the winter returns. As for the Inner Sparkle polish, this is shown above. It was layered on top of an Insta-Dri polish from Sally Hansen.
How do these nail polishes actually perform? Eh. Though I love the end result of the toppers (there is nothing better than a little shimmer and shine)...these are really heavy on the clear polish. It makes it difficult to actually get any glitter on the nails. The process was messy and took way longer than it should have. The clear polish to glitter ratio was all wrong with both bottles. I really wish it didn't require so much effort to achieve that fabulous glittery look. That being said, the longevity is decent. The glitter stayed put for about a week before it started to look chipped and worn. Though these Nicole by OPI polishes look beautiful, they are not something that I am likely to reach for all that often. I wish these were easier to use!
Have you tried any of the nail polishes from Nicole by OPI? What nail polish brand is your favourite?
