theme week: 2000s (totally 2000s pink sunglasses palette)

Another day...another 2000s inspired makeup post here on the creation of beauty is art. This theme week is focused on all things 00s and this palette from BH Cosmetics is certainly inspired by the decade. The Totally 2000s Pink Sunglasses 9 Color Shadow Palette is themed and colourful. Find out how it performs and how it compares to the Totally 2000s Blue Fur palette.

Like the Totally 2000s Blue Fur 9 Color Shadow Palette, the Totally 2000s Pink Sunglasses 9 Color Shadow Palette has that nostalgic clear plastic and glitter design and that throwback font. Instead of a flower design pressed into the shadows, this version has little hearts. It is just as cute as the blue version, but my complaint is the same: there are no eyeshadow names printed inside the palette or on the back. The names are listed on the BH Cosmetics website (and are super adorable) but not on the actual product. Definitely a missed opportunity. According to the brand, this eyeshadow palette has "an array of frosted baby and hot pinks, yellows, plus complementary neutrals in smooth matte and blingy shimmer finishes." I found the description a bit odd, because there are no yellows. At all. As for the colour story that is included in the palette, this is not as thrilling as the Blue Fur version. There are some beige shades that don't look like much of anything. In fact, the entire bottom row is a bit of a waste. None of those shadows really wow or feel 00s inspired. I would've loved to see some different shades.

As you can see from the photo above, the pigmentation level is not nearly as impressive in the Pink Sunglasses Palette. It's not that there aren't some nice shades here, but this just isn't as amazing as the previous Totally 2000s palette. The pink eyeshadows are nice and the shimmers are decent. Again, the standout is that glittery shadow. (Cool Beans, which is found in the third spot on the second row.) It is so pretty and it is possible to wear alone or layered on top of another eyeshadow. For the look above, a tiny bit of Cool Beans was added to ensure there was an extra hint of sparkle. Though this eyeshadow palette has some hits, there are a few too many misses for this to be a standout. The entire bottom row seems repetitive. Since there are only nine shadows in this palette, every single one counts. Having shades that are very similar (and not related to the theme) does not make the most sense. Thankfully, there are some nice eyeshadows included that will continue to be used.

What do you think of this eyeshadow palette? Are you a fan of 2000s inspired makeup products?
