My obsession with cool toned eyeshadows continues. One example? The Cool, Whatever Eyeshadow Palette from Kara Beauty. It is a forever favourite. More recently, the FMG Glimmer Eyeshadow Quad in Vixen has been checking the boxes as well. It has cool toned blue-greys, a silver, and a cool brown...all wonderful colours to have some fun with. Ready to see this #FOTD? Take a look at the Vixen eyeshadow quad? Keep reading for a mini review and a recent makeup look using this product.
The first place to start is with a mini review of this eyeshadow quad. The FMG Glimmer Eyeshadow Quad in Vixen has four different eyeshadow shades. On the top row is a deep cool-toned blue-grey and a sparkly silver. On the bottom row is an icy cool-toned blue-grey and a matte cool-toned brown. I really love the colour story and the fact that there are light, dark, and medium shadows to choose from. There are also different finishes, which is a bonus. Quads can be tricky, because every single eyeshadow counts. It is important to be extremely thoughtful about the colours, but this particular palette felt thoughtful. Everything worked together well. According to the brand, this is "an ultra pigmented and versatile eyeshadow palette that contains four different shades to help you achieve your desired natural daily or night out look. Created with a soft, creamy texture that gives minimal fall out and helps you effortlessly blend each colour together." Are the brand claims accurate? Eh. Not entirely. I personally experienced fall out with these shadows and found that the shades needed to be applied with an applicator sponge rather than a makeup brush. The end result is incredible, but effortless is not the word that I would use to describe this eyeshadow quad. It takes a bit of time and patience to achieve the desired result from the Vixen quad.
Now for the #FOTD. The idea was to create a makeup look that was both cool and warm. On the eyes, it was all about the FMG Glimmer Eyeshadow Quad in Vixen. The first shadow on the bottom row was applied all over the lid (using a sponge applicator) and the first shadow on the top row was applied from the middle of the lid towards the outside. The matte brown shadow was applied through the crease and the silver shadow was applied underneath the brow and in the inner corner. The brown shadow was also applied along the lower lash line. Liquid eyeliner and mascara completed the eye look. On the cheeks, it was a warm bronzer worn as a blush and then a Kylie Cosmetics lip liner in a warm brown was applied on the lips. I love the contrast of those ultra cool eyeshadow colours and the warmer browns. Though the shadows took a bit of work...the end result was totally worth it. I really love the colours, the finishes, and the way this #FOTD turned out. It was sparkly and glamorous!
